The
Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), an organization entrusted with the assessment,
collection, and accounting for tax revenues for the Malawi Government is
inviting applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates for a
job opportunity under its Administration Division.
Position : PABX Operator
Organizational Unit : Administration
Location : Head Office and Blantyre Port
Grade : F3
Reporting to : Administration Officer
Responsibilities:
- Creating,
updating, and distributing a call directory to all departments.
- Answering,
screening and forwarding calls in a professional and courteous manner.
- Handling
general phone inquiries about the Authority.
- Directing
external calls to designated departments or individuals.
- Transferring
internal calls across departments and between staff.
- Relaying
written or verbal messages in a timely and accurate manner.
- Scheduling
routine maintenance and facilitate urgent repairs of PABX equipment.
- Faulty
finding and rectification of minor telephones faults.
- Keeping
records of calls placed and charges incurred.
- Assisting
in other administrative duties such as photocopying, scanning, faxing and
emailing.
Qualifications & Experience
- Candidates must have the following qualifications
and experience:
- Certificate or Diploma in Office
administration, Secretarial work, or similar.
- Malawi School Certificate of Education
(M.S.C.E) with a credit in Mathematics and English Language
- Previous experience as a PABX Operator or a
similar role would be advantageous.
- Exceptional ability in professional telephone
etiquette.
- Extensive experience with answering and
directing calls, as well as relaying accurate messages.

Experience with office software such as MS
Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as printers, copiers, scanners, and fax
machines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills.

- Be able to work under tight deadlines.
