Henry has been serving as Deputy Commissioner General (DCG) since July 2020, and his contract was renewed on 12th August 2024.
He holds a Master of Taxation degree from the University of Sydney in Australia and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Honours) degree from the University of Malawi. He is a tax specialist and well-trained in public finance management. Henry's journey at the MRA started in 2001 when he joined as a legal officer. Over the years, he has served in senior management positions, first as Deputy Chief Legal Counsel and Company Secretary, and then as Director of Tax Investigations. Outside the MRA, he served as Company Secretary for MBC in 2004 and as National Advisor on Tax Policy for GIZ Malawi in 2016.
Henry has also worked as a Managing Partner at Odeide Tax Lawyers. He is an Adjunct Lecturer for the LLM Programme, specializing in Corporate Tax Law at the University of Malawi. He has certification in leadership and brings to management vast experience in corporate governance, having also served as a director on several boards in the pension and banking industries prior to his appointment as DCG.
