Players
in the manufacturing and services industry in Blantyre have hailed the
initiative by the Malawi Revenue Authority to conduct a day-long taxation
workshop on Domestic Excise in the City.
Participants
said the workshop was timely as it covered crucial areas of value for
manufactured goods, value for services, security bond, movement and transfer of
goods.
In
his opening remarks, the Deputy Commissioner Domestics Taxes, Large Taxpayer
Office, Macdonald Chambukira, said the workshop is part of MRA’s focus on
sustainable engagement with taxpayers.
He
added that the Authority was intensifying engagement with taxpayers to ensure
that everyone was well enlightened on taxation processes.
"We
are, therefore, very optimistic that your our valued taxpayers will greatly
benefit from this workshop and rightly follow all the required procedures to
avoid incurring unnecessarily penalties,” he emphasized.
The
workshop in Blantyre was attended by over 50 participants drawn from the City
and beyond.
