Malawi Revenue Authority and Department of Immigration and Citizenship services on 6th September 2019 signed a memorandum of understanding to interface their systems in order to share information.
MRA’s Commissioner General Mr. Tom Gray Malata and Director General of Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services Dr. Masauko George Katchule Medi signed the MOUs. Malawi Revenue Authority’s Msonkho Online System will Interface with Department of Immigrations’ ePermits system.
The interface will ensure smooth facilitation of tax registration for permit holders and renewal of permits. This will allow Immigration to verify tax compliance status of the permit renewal applicants with MRA.
In his remarks, the Commissioner General, indicated that the interface between the two systems will enhance tax compliance for foreign nationals and verify that they are complying with Malawi Tax Laws as they will not be able to access or renew permits if Msonkho Online indicates their non-compliance.
