The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) is pleased to inform the business community and the general public that it will launch the Taxpayer Charter on Monday, 29th August 2022, at Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre.
The Charter stipulates the rights and obligations of taxpayers. It also contains standards for service committed to taxpayers and other stakeholders.
The launch of the Charter is a clear demonstration of MRA’s desire and enthusiasm to always provide excellent service to taxpayers.
Through the Charter, the Authority is committing to provide the best standards of service not only once but every time when dealing with taxpayers.
Through the Charter, MRA pledges to always act with the highest level of integrity, transparency, utmost courtesy, fairness and respect when serving the customer, among others.
The Authority also commits to keep taxpayer’s information confidential and provide avenues for taxpayers to seek redress when not satisfied with the Authority’s decision.
In turn, the Authority expects taxpayers to honour their tax obligation such as registering for tax, keeping records, filing accurate declarations and paying taxes on time, among others.
MRA believes that the implementation of the Charter will enhance service delivery, improve tax compliance and build trust between MRA and the public.
MRA, therefore, would like to encourage the business community and the general public to always refer to the Charter in order to fully understand their rights and obligations.
