Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) is reminding all registered Industrial Rebate operators and the General Public that annual fees in respect of 2023 licences are due for payment.
Paragraph 16(1) of the Eighth Schedule to the Customs & Excise (Tariffs) Order stipulates that approved rebate operators should pay an annual fee of MK 150,000.00 not later than the 1st day of January in each year. In addition, an operator must pay a licence processing fee of MK 20,000.00.
Please note that all Industrial Rebate licences are valid until 31st December in the year they are issued therefore the closing date for payment of the annual fee in respect of the 2023 renewals is Monday, 1st January, 2023.
Those qualifying for licence renewal are further reminded that licences to operate under the scheme in the year 2023 shall be issued upon payment of the above-mentioned fees and submission of valid Bonds/Guarantees and Tax Clearance Certificates.
Pursuant to paragraph 16(2) of the Eighth Schedule to the Customs and Excise (Tariffs) Order, operators who fail to fulfil the above requirements by the due date will have their Industrial Rebate registrations cancelled.
