MRA signs agreement with Ghana, Liberia and Swaziland

The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) and three other tax administrations have signed the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) Agreement on Mutual Assistance in Tax Matters (AMATM).

The agreement is aimed at enabling MRA and tax administrations in Ghana, Liberia and Swaziland to assist each other to counter tax evasion.

Deputy Commissioner General Mrs. Roza Mbilizi signed the agreement on behalf of MRA during the 4th ATAF General Assembly in Durban, South Africa.

The general assembly, held from 3-7 October 2016, was organized to map out ways of optimally leveraging Africa’s untapped tax base.

The meeting was being held under the theme: ““Harnessing the African Cash Economy: Contributing Towards Expansion of the African Tax Base.”
