Earn unlimited cash rewards with ‘Kuiphula ndi Lisiti Langa’

Anyone in the four cities of Mzuzu, Zomba, Lilongwe and Blantyre stands a chance to win K40,000 prompt cash reward or more from the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA).

This offer is still on through the ongoing ‘Kuiphula ndi Lisiti Langa’ campaign.

MRA Head of Corporate Affairs, Steven Kapoloma, said everyone is free to participate in the campaign by demanding EFD receipts.

“Cash rewards of K40,000 per report are promptly issued by MRA to members of the general public who tip us about EFD offences committed by VAT registered traders. The offences include; Fiscal receipt issued but not reflecting the correct amount paid; Receipt issued but not a fiscal receipt and No receipt issued at all to the buyer,” said Kapoloma.

Any member of the public who has experienced the above listed offences can just walk into the Post Office located in any of the four cities to report the matter or call MRA on the following numbers:

·      Zomba Post Office 0885 514 971

·      Mzuzu Post Office 0885 514 969

·      Blantyre Post Office 0885 514 939

·      Limbe Post Office 0885 514 934

·      Lilongwe Old Town Post Office 0885 514 953

·      Lilongwe City Centre Post Office 0885 514 957

Kapoloma said the main objective of the campaign is to encourage VAT registered traders to issue EFD receipts all the time.

“Through the campaign, MRA is raising awareness among buyers on the importance of demanding EFD receipts while concurrently reminding VAT registered businesses of their obligations to issue EFD receipts for every sale,” Kapoloma said.

Launched in March this year, the ‘Kuiphula ndi Lisiti Langa’ campaign has so far disbursed a total of K25.9 million in cash rewards with a total 1,094 cases reported. MRA will collect a total of K347.6 million in revenue from the campaign.

The Authority has since reminded VAT registered traders that under Section 46 of the VAT Act, failure to issue an EFD receipt attracts a minimum penalty of K500,000.
