ABOUT US

The Institute of Tax Administration (ITA) is a training arm of the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA). The ITA, which was initially called Customs Training Centre before the establishment of MRA in 2000, was previously under the Human Resources and Organizational Development Division until October 2021 when it was delinked to become a stand-alone division.

We are mandated to provide and facilitate in-house training to officers in all divisions in taxation and other relevant business courses such as ICT, Accounting, as well as Tax Laws.

The Institute is focused on improving the practice and management of taxation operations through research and consultancy. It is the only institute in Malawi delivering professional competence-based tailor-made taxation training programs.

In addition, we offer short capacity building courses to various stakeholders in the area of taxation and other business areas. The institute is in the process of introducing a postgraduate certificate in Taxation in collaboration with Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS).
