The
Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has reaffirmed its commitment to educate the
taxpayer with a view to enhance voluntary compliance in the country.
The
sentiments were made recently by Willard Nandolo, Revenue Officer, at the
beginning of a tax presentation conducted at Claim Limited’s premises for its
tenants and management team.
Nandolo
emphasized the need for people to register and pay taxes when due for national
development. For this, he commended Claim Limited for allowing MRA to make a tax
presentation and elaborate on how various taxes, more especially Withholding
Tax (WHT), are operated and administered.
He
reminded the audience that since the introduction of Msonkho Online taxpayers
can register, submit tax returns and pay taxes electronically in the comfort of
their homes or offices.
Speaking
earlier Claim Limited General Manager, John Paul Yohane, commended MRA for
making the presentation adding that it will go a long way in addressing the
information and knowledge gap their tenants faced more particularly in areas
such as WHT obligations, the use of the Msonkho
Online platform for tax filing and payment, among other areas.
The
meeting was attended by close to twenty tenants and members of the management
team.
