CLARIFICATION ON GOODS THAT REQUIRE EXPORT APPROVAL

CLARIFICATION ON GOODS THAT REQUIRE EXPORT APPROVAL

The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) wishes to remind all exporters and the business community that goods that require export approval from MRA Head Office relate only to consignments in bulk goods from Customs controlled facilities such as duty free projects, bonded warehouses and re-exportation of wrongly supplied goods.

However, other types of exports such as personal effects, commercial goods and exports from the open stock like motor vehicles can be presented directly to MRA stations without any approval as long as they meet all requirements like CD1 Form, commercial invoices, Police clearance certificate, motor vehicle registration certificate and licenses, wherever applicable.

All exporters and the business community are, therefore, urged to take note of this arrangement so that they do not waste much business time when exporting goods outside the country.

For more information, you may contact Messrs. Edwin Starch on 0888952139 or Steven Kapoloma on 0888986200.
